Students discover theatre and never recover. We theatre teachers see it all the time. Their lives are changed, sometimes saved by the definition that an audience mirrors back to them when they perform on a stage. Our hope in CTO-ATA-LA is that theatre teachers and students will, more and more, come to see theatre as a powerful tool for social justice, communication and healing. We hope that they will use the empowerment that involvement in theatre gives to them to nurture their ambitions for themselves and their communities and to serve as agents for change. The workshops we have offered so far in Forum Theatre and in Legislative Theatre have been received like food for the starving. We believe that the need and the desire for
this kind of theatre education is almost limitless.
